Care about the environment? Want to make a difference in the lives of young people? Improve the lives of your fellow students? Whatever you’re passionate about, there are opportunities to volunteer and make a difference to the wider community at Maynooth!
Giving your time for free by getting involved in a volunteering project is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and help the community. The University and the SU both have a wide range of opportunities, so there is bound to be something to suit you.
We are very lucky at Maynooth to have such a beautiful campus, right in the middle of the town. That’s why the sense of Community shouldn’t stop at the college gate. As well as engaging within the University community we want to encourage students to get involved with this incredible town; you chose Maynooth, so why not become part of the wider community?
If volunteering isn’t workable for you, it’s still possible to make a difference. Each year, the SU chooses a charity to fundraise for. All through the year students, Societies and Clubs work hard to raise money and promote local causes. This year, we are raising money on behalf of Barretstown- rebuilding the lives of children affected by serious illness. You can make a difference by getting involved, or just by putting your hand in your pocket!

Student Engagement Ambassadors
College can be both an exciting and terrifying time. The Student Engagement Ambassadors (SEAs) are here to help make that transition easier. The SEAs are a group of students that love to create a friendly college environment, helping you find your passion and assisting you in getting involved in all aspects of college. Don't just take our word for it; here's a testimonial from one of last years SEAs:
“Being a student engagement ambassador has been one of the best experiences I have had this year. I have gotten to meet so many new students, help with SU events and campaigns and have some unreal fun around the campus. One of the best experiences, even though it doesn’t sound it, has been standing outside and gathering money for Barretstown. I got to meet so many students and help raise money for a good cause. I also got to meet the other student engagement ambassadors, who I have become great friends with since this experience. Being a SEA has helped me not only direct students to the unreal events on our campus, but also make some friends for life.”
